Anastasia Itkina is a Ukrainian-Canadian writer, producer, and sometimes director currently based in Vancouver, BC. Born in Ukraine, she was raised in a Reform Ashkenazi community in Kyiv and attended Aleksandriyska Gymnasium there. She later moved to Vienna and then Vancouver to study film at Simon Fraser University.
Her debut short film Hiraeth premiered at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, was nominated for the Scythian Deer Award at the Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival, and screened at Vancouver’s Cinematheque. She has co-written and produced numerous short films that have been recognized at prestige international festivals including Tribeca, VIFF, Whistler, NFFTY and Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, and have been featured by Nowness, Director’s Notes, Shots Creative, and Film Shortage.
Anastasia has been selected to participate in the Norman Jewison Canadian Film Centre program for 2025. She is currently developing her first narrative feature while continuing to support bold new voices through producing. Her recent producing work includes My Dad, The Rockstar (Tribeca 2025 premiere, currently in development as a feature); Night Routine, the latest short by acclaimed Ukrainian director Khrystyna Syvolap; and Last Night on the Line, a feature documentary on Vancouver-based Michelin-star chef Michel Jacob, set to premiere in 2025.
